NAPA’s employees have unmatched domain expertise in the fields of naval architecture, shipbuilding, performance analysis, shipping, software development, data analytics, and information technology, to name but a few. We use the latest technologies and processes when developing our solutions for the maritime industry. In addition, we actively contribute to maritime policies and regulations at a global level and drive forward scientific research in their areas of expertise.
We work closely with our customers and frequently travel to wherever they are in the world to work alongside them. At NAPA, you’re part of a family. In recent years our adventures together have included sailing, flying in a wind tunnel, bouncing on trampolines, tasting champagne, and horse riding.
Self-management
At NAPA, you’re self-managed. Everyone’s here to help and guide each other, but you’re your own boss. You’re responsible for your own decisions, and doing the most important thing you can in creating a cleaner, safer, maritime industry.
At its heart, our self-management philosophy is founded on trust. We trust that our people are smart enough that if they make a decision, having consulted the right people, it will be good for our company. And if it’s not the right decision on that occasion, that’s fine too. We trust that we’ll make it right, learn from the decision, and grow as a company as a result.
Don’t let this seem daunting. Just as anyone can ask for advice from someone with expertise, those with the expertise must consult. Every decision you make will mean sharing the collective knowledge and expertise of the whole team.

Colin More, originally from Canada, works as a Software Developer at NAPA Finland. Colin’s area of expertise is in fluid mechanics, and he is specifically interested in fluid dynamics in shipping.

Joakim enjoys problem-solving. He shares with NAPA’s customers their common goal to complete their ship design projects, which makes his job rewarding.

Trainee opportunities at NAPA
One way to join NAPA is to become a Trainee. As a Trainee at NAPA, you become an integral member of the team and get to work on actual tasks, and you’ll have a mentor to pair up with and guide you in the beginning. The trainee path has become a starting point for many long-term careers at NAPA. After finishing his studies, NAPA’s CEO Mikko Kuosa started his journey at NAPA over 20 years ago.
