Fortius Ship Management has taken another practical step in its digital transformation by adopting NAPA’s full suite of performance and voyage planning solutions in a fleet-wide agreement, including NAPA Fleet Intelligence, NAPA Voyage Optimization, and Expert Route Monitoring. The project also includes a customized onboard reporting tool and tailored data exports to support verification and compliance needs. 

Together, these tools give Fortius a more connected and transparent way of managing operational data across its bulk carrier fleet. 

From fragmented reporting to clearer operational insight 

Before partnering with NAPA, Fortius’ technical and operational teams were working with multiple reporting systems and manually validating large volumes of daily performance data. This made it difficult to maintain information consistency and slowed down the process of making data-led operational decisions. 

With NAPA Fleet Intelligence, the team now works from a single cloud-based platform that consolidates data from across the fleet and applies automated quality checks. This has helped simplify daily workflows, improve visibility of vessel performance, and strengthen confidence in reported figures.

Enhancing voyage planning through better data and expert support 

For a significant share of its voyages, Fortius’ Operations team is responsible for voyage planning and execution. The team was therefore looking for a more effective way to plan and monitor voyages, particularly in the face of unpredictable weather and changing operational conditions. 

By combining NAPA Voyage Optimization with Expert Route Monitoring, Fortius can now plan routes that balance safety, fuel use, and scheduling considerations, supported by real-time visibility of weather and vessel performance. 

NAPA’s Expert Route Monitoring adds a layer of human expertise, with NAPA and Interoutes’ specialists reviewing routes and providing recommendations throughout each voyage. For example, on one recent 25-day voyage across the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean passage, the team provided 16 tailored voyage plans to help the ship’s master navigate developing barometric lows. By fully adopting the optimum plan, the vessel kept on schedule and achieved meaningful fuel and emissions savings. 

Alongside the standard modules, NAPA and Fortius co-developed a customized onboard reporting tool, designed specifically for Fortius’ daily reporting needs. Tailored data exports ensure compatibility with verifier formats, reducing administrative workload and the risk of manual errors.

When Fortius approached NAPA for the project, they highlighted reliability, flexibility, and close cooperation as central to the project’s success. NAPA’s teams worked directly with Fortius’ technical, operational, and management departments to ensure that the system reflected the company’s practical requirements.
