Fugro sails with NAPA Logbook
How Fugro uses NAPA Logbook to gain real-time insights, enhance shore-to-vessel collaboration, and reduce administrative workload across its fleet.
Julia Korpak, Global Fleet QHSSE Manager at Fugro, says: “With the implementation of e-Logbooks, we hope that our crew will have easier processes to make entries, and that our collaboration between the vessel and the shore team will be even stronger.
We hope to make better, faster decisions when it comes to voyage planning and identify any trends. We want to improve safety. We want to improve decision-making and also reduce the administrative workload, which is a problem for everyone in the shipping industry.
“We want to have more insights, have these insights faster, and be able to process this information, to be able to make necessary improvements, and faster decisions. And we don’t know it 100% yet, but we already feel that there will be a lot of other opportunities to make this data more useful than it is today.”

The Challenge
Real-time visibility and data-driven decision making: “With all the digital tools, we want to have better insights into what’s going on. We want to know very quickly if something is not going right. We also want to know if something is going well.”
Industry-wide administrative burden: “We want to reduce the workload, administrative workload, which is a problem for everybody in the shipping industry.”
Need for actionable insights: “We want to have more insights, have these insights faster, and be able to process this information, to be able to make necessary improvements, faster decisions.”
The Solution
Strategic digitalization approach: “Last year, we introduced NAPA e-Logbooks. So, e-Logbooks is one of our projects for the digitalization roadmap. We believe that this project is really going to make a change on board, but also make a change on shore in how we collect the data, process the data, and also make better decisions based on data.”
Selecting the right partner: “When we started to decide to implement e-Logbooks, we started to look at the market and see who could provide us with the solutions that we are looking for. There were a few companies we were talking to, and NAPA was one of them.”
Why NAPA: “NAPA is a mature company, and is really experienced in the implementation of e-Logbooks. And we also loved NAPA’s customer focus. NAPA was always open to our questions and provided us with feedback. So that was indeed, in the end, something that made us choose NAPA.”

Improved operational efficiency: “We hope that our crew will have easier processes to make entries, that our collaboration between the vessel and the shore team will be even stronger.”
Enhanced safety and voyage planning: “We hope to make better and faster decisions when it comes to voyage planning, to see if we have any trends in voyage planning. We want to improve safety.”
Reduced administrative burden: “We want to improve decision making and also reduce the administrative workload.”
Unlocking future potential: “We already feel that there will be a lot of other opportunities to make this data more useful than it is today.
