  1. Damage Stability FAQ: The workshop will present the most frequently asked questions and answers of damage stability calculations. The workshop will also demonstrate the latest development in the damage stability applications and provide a quick look at the future development plans. Note: The same workshop is organized twice.
  2. Getting Started with Hull Form Modeling with NAPA Designer: The workshop is intended for those who have little or no experience on working with NAPA Designer for hull form modeling. The participants have a possibility to model a hull form during the workshop by using the latest NAPA Designer software.
  3. Latest Development of NAPA Steel: The workshop will present the latest development of NAPA Steel for structural design and modeling.
10:30 -11:00 Break
11:00 – 12:30 Second workshop sessions

  1. Damage Stability FAQ: The workshop will present the most frequently asked questions and answers of damage stability calculations. The workshop will also demonstrate the latest development in the damage stability applications and provide a quick look at the future development plans. Note: The same workshop is organized twice.
  2. Comparison of Alternative Fuel Ships Using Operational Simulation Tools: Alternative fuels are gaining more space as the go-to solution for newbuilds. This transition is driven by the new regulations and environmental ambitions concerning green-house gas emissions in the maritime sector. At NAPA, we want to support this transition with the best possible ship design tools. In this workshop, we will take a deep-dive into designing one of NAPA’s demo ships, the D-Bulker, to use different types of alternative fuels as its primary power source. We will also utilize a proof-of-concept level methodology to assess the new designs under actual operating conditions, in order to make preliminary estimates on the CAPEX + OPEX of the designs.
  3. Benefits of Early FE model: Decoupling the structural analysis from the structural design is one of the keys for making early analysis possible. FE mesh should be quick to extract from the the structural model during different stages of the project. This workshop focuses on defining mesh parameters that are so general that they do not age as the project progresses. Starting analysis with a coarse mesh model is often desired. We will look at how you can you leave out certain structures and idealize others. Updating the steel model based on the FE model will also be discussed.
12:30 – 13:30 Lunch
13:30 – 14:45 Third workshop sessions

  1. Hints & Tricks: The good old Hints & Tricks workshop is back. The session presents a bunch of useful tips to use NAPA software packages more efficiently in daily work.
  2. Advanced Hull Form Modeling Techniques with NAPA Designer: The workshop will present useful techniques for hull form modeling in NAPA Designer. This workshop will explore how to make most out from combining interactive modeling tools and definition editor.
  3. C# Scripting in NAPA Designer: The workshop session provides fun and easy examples to learn C# scripts in NAPA Designer. Scripts can boost your workflow and open your mind to see new possibilities with NAPA 3D model.
