Learn how to perform SOLAS II-1 calculations with NAPA!
This two-day course covers all that you need to get started with probabilistic damage stability calculations with NAPA.
The basic skills to use NAPA are required. It is recommended to be familiar with the topics handled in NAPA Initial Training.
The course focus is in the probabilistic damage stability calculation method according to SOLAS II-1. The topics include for example the index calculation for side damages, the Regulations 8 for minor side damages, and the Regulation 9 for bottom damages.
For example, all the required opening and cross-flooding device definitions, tools to analyse results etc. will be covered. After the course, the participant has the required knowledge to calculate the rule compliance for SOLAS II-1.
The calculation routine is gone through step by step for both cargo and/or passenger ships, by using NAPA Manager application for probabilistic damage stability calculations, known as PROB Manager.
- Day 1: Concepts of damage stability calculations in NAPA, progressive flooding, introduction to probabilistic damage stability calculations
- Day 2: Probabilistic damage stability calculations workflow acc. SOLAS II-1
Minimum number of participants
The minimum number of participants for the course is four (3) persons.
The course will be conducted in English.
The fee for the course is 2000 € (in Helsinki) per participant (0% VAT). This covers the instruction and course material.

Deadline for registration is three (3) weeks prior to the course.
The confirmation letter will be sent to the registered participants by email as soon as the minimum number of registrations have been received but not later than 3 weeks prior to the course.
