We are seeking a (SENIOR) SOFTWARE TEST ENGINEER for our office in Helsinki


As an exploratory tester in our Naval Architecture team, you will be testing software for ship design and stability calculations. The software is used for stability calculations which are essential for the safety of life at sea. Your key responsibilities are to test and verify the functionality of our software, to reduce manual work by automating our test cases, to develop test plans, to define, create and improve existing test scenarios and to coordinate manual testing in the test cycles.

You will be working within a team of 8 developers and alongside other relevant stakeholders inside NAPA. The team is an autonomous and international team of experts using agile software development methods.


We are looking for a person with:

  • Minimum 3 years of software testing experience in a demanding domain, preferably with desktop-applications
  • Experience in both test automation and manual testing
  • Experience in bug tracking and continuous integration systems
  • Experience in UI testing tools is an asset

Most important is that you are motivated and experienced to do both manual and automated testing hands-on. It is also important that you have gained experience in software testing with complex and demanding software that contains, for example, mathematical data.

You will be working with Ranorex as a UI testing framework and to some extent FsUnit- and Nunit testing frameworks. You will also get to work with, for example, Ruby. However, we appreciate all experience in UI and unit testing frameworks regardless of the technology or tool used.

You have an analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude and you are interested to learn a new domain and new skills. Moreover, you have excellent team working skills, perseverance and resilience. You are a person with good collaboration skills, who want to take initiative and take responsibility for his or her work. At NAPA our working language is English so you need to have fluent written and oral English skills.
