Onboard-NAPA covers a wide range of calculations related to hydrostatics, intact stability and the ship’s longitudinal strength, such as calculation of deadweight, displacement, free surface moments, the ship’s floating position, bending moment, shear force, and weight and buoyancy distribution.

Damage Stability

Free definition and calculation of any arbitrary damage case based on the ship’s active loading condition, calculation of intermediate stages of flooding, display of floating position and critical openings, and calculation of longitudinal strength in damaged and/or grounded condition.

Enable simulation of any grounding scenario through exact calculations of single-point and multiple-point groundings. Alternative scenarios for re-floating the ship can be simulated easily.

  • Can be utilized as a simulator for crew training purposes.
  • Improves ship safety also by verifying strength and stability against relevant criteria before departure.
  • Promotes maximum utilization of the ship’s cargo capacity by means of accurate cargo planning. The loading condition definition task features calculation of liquid loads, solid loads, and the draught survey.
  • Ensures compliance with regulations. The planned loading scenario can easily be checked against a given intact stability criteria and strength limits. The actual loading condition can also be checked against Marpol or IBC criteria.
  • Provides online data interfaces to various shipboard systems, such as the machinery automation system (MAS) and the voyage data recorder. Standard online interface protocols are available for some 30 MAS and tank level gauging systems.
  • Can be expanded into a multi-user network configuration if the system is connected to the ship’s local area network (LAN). The master workstation is located on the bridge.
  • Clear, easy-to-use and dynamic graphical user interface.
  • Provides customized graphical cargo and loading reports meeting specific customer requirements.
Key Benefits
  • Produces accurate and reliable calculation results, as in all calculations it utilizes a real 3D model of the ship, the existence of which is a basic requirement for fast and accurate damage stability calculations.
  • Displays the ship’s graphical layouts and tank plans, giving the officers maximum ease in accessing each tank and room in the ship arrangement.
  • Helps the officers onboard to make well-informed decisions about possible courses of action in distress situations.
  • Fully compatible with the NAPA Emergency Response (NAPA ER) application. Onboard-NAPA is also fully compatible with the Lloyd’s Register and DNV Emergency Response Services.
  • Type approved by, among others, Det Norske Veritas, Germanischer Lloyd and Lloyd’s Register.
  • Onboard-NAPA can be linked with the ship owner’s office applications, thus saving time and reducing human errors.
