NAPA Steel is a unique system for early structural design of ships, facilitating a smooth transition from a rough model to the level of detail needed for classification, including stiffeners, brackets, openings, seams, plates, cutouts, corner notches and building blocks for production planning.
NAPA Steel is entirely integrated within the NAPA system. NAPA Steel takes full advantage of the topological definition of structures and the NAPA product model approach to permit fast modelling during the early design stages. The flexible NAPA product model allows rapid changes to the structural design, and provides all numerical figures for the total optimisation of the structures. Use of the 3D product model: - Structural design for classification
- Cost-related information, e.g. weight, bill of materials, welding lengths and painting area
- Production planning
- Generation of drawings and visualisations
- Export of the 3D structural model to outfit, classification and detail design systems, such as Tribon, NUPAS-CADMATIC
- Automatic FEM modelling and export to analysis systems, e.g. Patran, Femap, Nastran
- STEP, IGES and DXF for linking to a wide variety of general CAD systems, e.g. AutoCAD
