NAPA hosted a day of SEEMP-related discussion in Singapore on 8th May 2012 centered around existing, and future, eco-efficiency products from NAPA for Operations.

During the afternoon, NAPA hosted a panel discussion about the incoming SEEMP regulation - mandatory on all vessels post-January 2013. The debate was chaired by Katharina Stantzel, Managing Director of Intertanko who was joined by panelists Captain Nansi Purendu,HSEQ Manager, NYK Shipmanagement,Takeshi Shimada, General Manager, EEDI Division, ClassNK,Alisdair Pettigrew, Senior Advisor to Carbon War Room’s Shipping Operation and NAPA’s own Esa Henttinen, Vice President, Business Development.

With the enforcement of regulation imminent, over 60 representatives from ship owners, industry bodies and trade associations attended the event entitled‘The Challenges and Benefits of SEEMP Compliance’. The discussion incorporated both ‘big picture’ views of the impact of SEEMP, as well as more specific discussions about implementation practices. The debate was occasionally heated and often surprising – demonstrating the appetite for knowledge from the marketplace.

The networking that followed the debate proved a fitting end to a in-depth discussion on how to make shipping a more profitable, eco-efficient and technologically forward-looking industry.
